Financial institutions usually don't have much experience with log homes. Lenders follow Fannie Mae's guidelines to appraise a property by comparing its value to that of similar homes which have sold in the past year. This can mean the appraiser must find at least three log homes which have turned over in the same county in the past year - hard task iin many areas. However Fannie Mae considers log homes to be in a class with "rustic-construction" bungalow style house plans; therefore any rustic home can be used in the comparison (have the appraiser or the mortgage loan officer contact FNMA to obtain clarification).
In order to choose flooring that will work for your needs and your budget you must take several things into consideration. First and foremost is the space that you are choosing to cover; different rooms have different needs when it comes to flooring. While hardwood may offer more visual impact in larger common rooms it may not be a material that will work in a bathroom that is exposed to moisture or a family room where your children like to lay on the floor and watch television.
